Power = Force • Velocity

This week we are focusing on creating space on bottom using Power. More times than not, students rely too heavily on strength (force) alone to do work on the mat. But what we need to learn is that power can give us that explosive space creation that will help us escape from bottom.
Keys to learning power from bottom are:
1. maximal hip extension
2. counter muscle contraction is best (down-up)
3. syncopate your movement patterns
